Saving $100 by catching that 3:30 am early flight? Train leaving at 5 am with or without you? Here are some tips for the early morning traveler.
1. Pack everything the night before, choose your travel outfit and weigh your suitcase
The only thing you should pack in the morning are the things you use in the morning. Your toothbrush, toothpaste, contact solution, etc. Waking up early to travel can be draining. Get your travel outfit ready the night before and you won’t be wasting energy picking out your clothes.
There is always going to be something to do at the last minute, so just prepare as much as possible. Also, if you need to weigh your suitcase, the night before is the time to do this!
2. Don’t forget to charge the electronics and bring the chargers!
There’s nothing worse than getting on a plane, train or bus with a dead kindle or laptop. Ok, maybe there are worse things (like a dead phone)… But seriously, electronics will die and if you’re traveling for an extra long time and unable to charge, a notebook and a pen is the classic and entertaining creative outlet.
3. Pack a travel pillow
If I’m tired enough I can sleep anywhere. Traveling early in the morning, my travel pillow is my best friend. You can pick them up for around $10 just about anywhere.
4. Plan your breakfast and snacks
Some people can’t eat when they get up early to travel and in that case you may want to pack some snacks for when you are ready to eat.
Here are some great examples of healthy travel snacks:
Just to note, my favorite travel snack is trail mix.
5. Get some sleep!
The thrill and excitement for your upcoming journey will try it’s best to keep you up at night. But remember, early morning travel takes a lot out of you, especially when you have to catch a flight. So hurry to finish packing and try to get as much sleep as you can to prepare for your journey!
